Root Canals
Sometimes a tooth can experience severe decay. Or in some cases, infection can form in the pulp chamber or at the bottom of the root, causing severe pain. In order to help alleviate this discomfort, a root canal will need be done to save the tooth.
During a root canal, the root is cleaned out and replaced with a filling material. Then, typically a crown is placed on the tooth if it is a molar. If it is a front tooth, we typically place a filling on it. This process helps save the tooth and give it structure. The procedure itself has a bad reputation for being painful, but in reality, patients have described it as being comparable to getting a filling done.
